Teachers

Competent and motivated teachers are important to ensure our students can develop foundational learning skills. As teachers are the most important determinants of learning outcomes, we aim to attract new talents as well as develop a continuous professional development system for our teachers. They facilitate child-friendly and learner-centered pedagogical processes. They also create a safe learning environment that is gender sensitive and inclusive. At the same time, the backbone of the school is made of diligent staff who are always on the go to ensure that the day-to-day workings of the school function smoothly.

Nima Lama – Principal
A native of Sermathang and alumnus of Yangrima Boarding School, Nima is a supportive and patient principal known for his active listening and flexible approach. He is dedicated to creating a progressive and inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive.

 

Navraj Shah – Operation Director
Born in Ajmeru Rural municipality of Dadeldhura District and studies up to grade 10 at community school. It starts from Helambu project of Just Nepal Foundation, he had an opportunity to participate in 5 days teachers training workshop aimed at making classroom teaching  in Helambu’s community  school more critical and participatory. Having a strong leadership character Mr. Shah  currently, teaching at Yangrima Secondary School with all his profession experiences and practice.

 

Santosh Kafle – Acting  Principal
Hailing from Kanchankawal-6, Jhapa, Santosh’s life revolves around numbers and calculations. With strong leadership and organizational skills, he communicates complex ideas clearly. Innovative and adaptable, he thrives on finding creative solutions to challenges. We are proud have him as a part of the Yangrima Family, inspiring young minds every day with dedication and heart.

 

Nishchal Puri – Secondary English Teachers
 From Kathmandu, Nishchal’s life revolves around words and sentences. With strong leadership and organizational skills, he communicates complex ideas clearly. Innovative and adaptable, he thrives on finding creative solutions to challenges. Despite from Kathmandu but has now made Helambu his home. 

 

Parbati Tamang – Primary Co-Ordinator 
Originally from Nuwakot, working as a primary co-ordinate at Yangrima Secondary School, where her deep love for children shines through her dedicated care and efficient management activities. A keen learner with a natural ability to connect with children, she brings warmth and energy to every interaction. Known, for her down to earth nature and pleasant personality, she has quickly become a beloved figure among students.

 

Himal Kunwar- Lower Secondary Teacher 
Born and raised in Baitadi, Sudhurpaschim, he is hardworking, amicable, disciplined, and forward-thinking. A progressive educator, he is passionate about fostering growth, he strives to inspire students and create a brighter future for all. He enjoys singing songs in his spare time. 

 

Rupa Khadka- Lower secondary Nepali Teacher
Born and brought up in Helambu, Rupa believes that a teacher must be fair to all, treating every student with equal respect and attention. She has a natural curiosity and loves discovering new things whenever she visits new places, constantly seeking new ideas and experiences to enrich her teaching.

 

Pemba Lama- Lower secondary Nepali Teacher 
Mr Pemba Lama, originally from the beautiful village of sermathang, joined Yangrima Secondary School as a  Nepali teacher in the academic year 2082. A proud member of the local hyolmo community, Pemba sir bring with a deep understanding of the culture, Language and values  that define Helambu . Mr Lama is passionate about healping student connect with  roots through the nepali language.

 

Non-Teaching Staff


Thilen Lama

Responsible for feeding the many hungry stomachs and souls at Yangrima Boarding School, Thilen Lama is native to Sermathang, previously having worked in India. Thilen brings a deep sense of community and cultural pride into his kitchen, ensuring that each meal is not just food, but a comforting reminder of home.

 

Khendu Sherpa
Together with Thilen, Khandu ensures that delicious, warm meals are delivered on the dot to the students of Yangrima Boarding School. A skilled and diligent member of the kitchen team, Khandu can often be found tending the great furnace in the kitchen or working out in the permaculture farm, carefully selecting the freshest produce for the day’s meals.
