Support Our Mission

The 2015 Great Earthquake devastated Helambu, Sindhupalchowk, destroying homes and causing the highest human loss in the country. Thousands of children lost their parents, while many others were left homeless and without income. The Helambu Flood and the COVID-19 pandemic further worsened the situation for children in the region.

Believing that every child deserves to grow up with family, we’ve launched the Child Sponsorship Project for children in Sindhupalchowk who have lost their families or come from vulnerable backgrounds. While we have a children’s hostel near Yangrima School, our priority is placing children with trained foster families within their local communities, ensuring they remain close to their roots. For children over 10 years old, staying at the hostel is an option. Each child is carefully selected by a dedicated team, and the sponsorship directly supports their education, care and well-being.

The program offers sponsors a chance to form a meaningful connection with a child and contribute to their growth. Since 1989, hundreds of children have benefited from the program at Yangrima School. Through your support, you help a child reach their full potential while staying connected to their heritage.

Sponsorship Opportunities

There are two simple ways you can support a child through our sponsorship program:

  1. Children who live with their family or relatives and need support with their tuition fees, books, uniforms, stationeries, and day meals. US$50 per month covers the full cost of such a day sponsorship.
  2. Children who need accommodation as well as all the above support. US$100 per month covers the full cost of a day sponsorship and safe and comfortable accommodation as well.

When you sponsor a child at Yangrima, you will receive a welcome pack which includes a detailed profile of the sponsored child, photographs, note from her teacher as well as practical information about payments, communication etc. Thereafter you will receive a regular update (three times a year) from the School which will include a letter written by your sponsored child, recent photos and a progress report.
