Our School Exchange Program Partners


BRENDERUP HØJSKOLE

Brenderup Folk High School belongs to the circle of newer folk high schools. It was founded in 1986 as the Nordic College for Peace in Brenderup Gl. Inn, Denmark.

Yangrima Ex-Students Society (YESS) and Brenderup Hojskole built an educational relationship in order to promote cultural exchange in our respective countries. Brenderup School Exchange Project used to be a vibrant exchange project set up by Yangrima School under the auspices of the Democracy Fund.

The underlying interest of YESS and Brenderup in our agreement is to support each other’s educational objectives mutually.


SKALS EFTERSKOLE

The Yangrima School Exchange Project with Skals Efterskole offers a rich platform for cultural and academic exchange between Nepal and Denmark. This initiative allows students from both countries to engage in collaborative learning, immersing them in each other’s cultures and education systems. Skals Efterskole students travel to Yangrima School in Sermathang, Helambu, where they participate in activities alongside local students, fostering friendships and deepening intercultural understanding. The program also includes trekking to Ama Yangri Peak and experiencing the cultural heritage of the Himalayan region.

Founded in 1978, Skals Efterskole is a Danish boarding school with a strong emphasis on both academic achievement and personal growth. Known for its international outlook, the school offers programs like the IGCSE, preparing students for global opportunities. Skals’ vision centers on developing students’ social and academic competencies, making them global citizens. The school has a long-standing tradition of organizing international trips, including to Nepal, where students get firsthand experience of new cultures and environments. Through this exchange, students from Skals and Yangrima broaden their worldviews, share ideas, and enhance their educational growth​



WELLINGTON COLLEGE

Wellington College, one of the UK’s leading co-educational schools, emphasizes a holistic approach to education that combines academic excellence with personal growth. Known for its robust Global Citizenship program, the college encourages students to engage with diverse cultures and communities around the world. This aligns with its core values of empathy, leadership, and global responsibility. As part of these efforts, Wellington College has maintained a meaningful partnership with Yangrima School in Sermathang, Nepal, for over 20 years.

This collaboration focuses on cultural exchange and community action through the Nepal International Development Project. As part of this initiative, Wellington students regularly visit Yangrima School to engage in various activities, including teaching, trekking, and working on local community projects.

For example, in a recent trip, Wellington students worked alongside Yangrima pupils, repainted parts of the school, built a new polytunnel for sustainable food production, and collaborated on technology projects. These experiences not only foster cross-cultural understanding but also contribute to the development of both schools. In turn, students from Yangrima are also invited to visit Wellington College for immersive experiences, further deepening the educational and cultural ties between the two institutions.

This exchange program is a core part of Wellington’s Global Citizenship and Global Education initiatives, which aim to provide students with real-world experiences in diverse settings.



CATLIN GABEL COLLEGE

Catlin Gabel School, a renowned independent school in Oregon, is deeply committed to experiential learning and global education. As part of its international outreach, the school maintains a meaningful exchange program with Yangrima School in Nepal. This program offers students a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture of the Himalayan region while engaging in service and community-building activities.

During their time at Yangrima, Catlin Gabel students participate in various projects, such as repainting school facilities, trekking to Ama Yangri Peak, and joining cultural events with the local students. The exchange fosters strong connections between the two communities, allowing students to develop a deeper appreciation for different cultures while contributing to the local environment.

The program emphasizes mutual learning, personal growth, and adventure, with students often reflecting on the friendships and life-changing experiences they gained during their time in Nepal. The exchange has become a core part of Catlin Gabel’s commitment to fostering global citizenship and a spirit of service among its students.



ST. JOHN’S KILMARKNOCK SCHOOL

St. John’s-Kilmarnock School, a top independent school in Canada, emphasizes global citizenship and hands-on community involvement. In 2017, a group of SJK students visited Yangrima Boarding School in Helambu, Nepal, as part of a unique cross-cultural exchange program. During their visit, they engaged in various community-building activities and helped raise funds for essential infrastructure improvements at Yangrima, including the construction of toilets.

Additionally, the SJK students contributed to setting up a kitchen garden at Yangrima, promoting sustainable food practices and helping the local community become more self-sufficient. This initiative allowed SJK students to participate in meaningful environmental projects while gaining a deeper understanding of life in rural Nepal. The visit fostered lasting friendships and reinforced SJK’s commitment to making a positive impact through global collaboration.
